What Factors Affect the Cost of Food Truck Insurance?

The average food truck insurance cost of your premium can be affected by a few factors. For example, the amount you pay for general liability insurance is related to your business’ gross annual income.

Factors that affect insurance cost.

The second factor that can affect your premium is the type of coverage you choose. With FLIP, you have the option to expand or extend your coverage with optional policies and add-ons, including:

Even though your food truck liability insurance cost will increase if you add optional coverages to your policy, FLIP keeps the cost of these add-ons as low as possible so you never have to choose between the coverage you need and breaking the bank.

Finally, if you have a history of filing claims, your premium may increase. When your insurance provider sees that you have filed claims in the past, they can assume that you pose more of a financial risk than someone who hasn’t.

Can I Reduce the Cost of My Insurance?

The best way you can lower the cost of food truck insurance is by identifying risks and preventing accidents from happening to your business.

Some of the best risk prevention techniques for food trucks include:

  • Regularly inspecting your equipment and food truck for wear and tear to prevent malfunctions or breakdowns
  • Clearly labeling menu items with common allergens
  • Keeping the area around your food truck clean and free of clutter or tripping hazards
  • Following proper food handling and storage practices

FAQs About the Cost of Food Truck Liability Insurance

This policy is tailored to cover food truck business operations, but it’s not designed to cover your vehicle. For this coverage, you will need a commercial auto insurance policy, which FLIP does not offer at this time.

Many food truck rallies and food festival organizers require you to provide proof of insurance before they allow you to participate in their event. They will also ask you to add them to your policy as an additional insured, which protects them from having to pay out for any accidents you cause at their event.

With FLIP, you can add an unlimited amount of additional insureds free of charge from the convenience of your online dashboard!

While FLIP doesn’t offer an event policy for food trucks, you can choose to pay monthly instead of annually if you only need coverage for a short period of time.
